    Echoes of Color

“Echoes of Color” explores the delicate balance between the familiar and the surreal, Lee turns to nature’s paradigms—flowers, trees, leaves, fruit, and animals—and juxtaposes them with symbols of human achievement, such as architecture, circuitry, and modern technology. In skillfully blending recycled mixed media with traditional painting techniques, she aims to capture those fleeting moments that reflect the peculiar yet beautiful coexistence of humanity within the natural world. Lee’s work invites viewers to recognize that human influence on the environment is an integral part of nature itself, urging a harmonious coexistence that celebrates the beauty derived from both human invention and the natural world.
Lee’s narrative unfolds through the tactile language of collages, where traditional Korean textiles intermingle with bold, distinctive patterns, embodying the unique textile art form of YangDan. Her palette extends to include a curated selection of recycled materials—copious papers, ephemeral items, and repurposed sketches—that imbue her compositions with layers of meaning and a palpable sense of history.
