Here I Go
류은선 작가는 이번 전시에서 탄천길 산책, 지역 축제 봉사 활동 등의 일상 경험을 통해 직접 보고 느낀 아이 표현을 선보인다.
작가는 소소하면서도 섬세한 일상을 포착해 한지에 담아내면서 제 3자인 아이의 모습에 자신을 투영하여 그 안에서 작가 스스로 억눌린 감정을 해소하기도, 자아상을 찾기도 한다. 또한 일상에서 접하는 평범한 대상이자 동시대의 한국에서 점차 희귀해지고 있는 아이 표현을 통해 도시의 메마른 견고함과 소통의 벽을 무너뜨리는 힘을 발견하고자 한다. 작가가 일상에서 마주친 아이는, 아이 그 자체로 혹은 아이를 둘러싼 어른들과 함께 삶의 의미를 만들어간다. 이번 전시를 통해 관람객들이 위안을 얻기도, 삶을 돌아보기도 하는 시간을 갖길 바란다.
In this exhibition, Ryu, Eun-sun presents the expressions of children she saw and felt through daily experiences such as walking on Tancheon-gil and volunteering for local festivals.
She captures delicate daily life and draws it on Hanji(korean paper), projecting herself into the image of a third-party child, relieving the emotions suppressed by herself or finding a self-image. She also aims to discover the power to break down barriers to communication through the expression of children, which is an ordinary object she encounters in everyday life and is becoming increasingly rare in contemporary Korea. The child that she encounters in her daily life creates the meaning of life, either by the child itself or with the adults surrounding the child. Through this exhibition, she hopes that visitors will have time to comfort and look back on their lives.
류은선 작가는 서울대학교 동양화과 학사 및 석사 학위를 취득하였고 현재 동대학원 박사 학위 과정에 있다. The 40th International TAKIFUJI Art Award(2019), 서울대학교 학문후속세대(2021-2022), 성남문화재단 청년예술프로젝트(2023) 등에서 수상 및 선정되었으며 다수의 개인전 및 단체전을 통해 전통 재료 및 기법을 기반으로 하여 작품 연구 활동을 진행해오고 있다. 특히 최근에는 천진한 아이의 모습을 소재로 한 작품을 다수 창작해왔다.
Painter Ryu, Eun-sun earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Oriental painting at Seoul National University and is currently studying for a doctorate at the graduate school. She has been awarded and selected from The 40th International TAKIFUJI Art Award(2019), Seoul National University Academic Succession Generation(2021-2022), and Seongnam Cultural Foundation Youth Art Project(2023), and have been conducting work research based on traditional materials and techniques through a number of individual and group exhibitions. In recent years, she has created a number of works based on the appearance of an pure child.
