Noh Seokwoong has expanded his artistic horizons since he was an actor. He works as a dancer to express his body on the stage, as a media outlet that incorporates art, and as a video director. He continues to challenge convergence and composite art by incorporating developing technologies into performing arts and playing the role of video production and performers in media performances.
“Tuner” is an interactive performance with body-sound interaction that expresses body movements through piano sounds, meaning that “the body becomes a piano and my movements act as a coordinator.” The sound comes out every time you move in clothes with sensors, and the tuner performs based on this.
The exhibition is the first step toward a new challenge, as Noh Seokwoong has worked on the project, performance, and programming of “Tuner” since ancient times.
<Tuner> is not just a performance, but an exhibition where you can experience wearing clothes yourself, so I hope it will be a time for many visitors to enjoy physical movements and sounds.
노석웅은 배우를 시작으로 예술의 시야를 넓혀왔다. 무대에서의 신체 표현을 위해 무용을 익혀 무용수로 활동을 했으며, 예술을 담아내는 매체로서 영상감독으로도 활동을 하고있다. 발전해나가는 기술들을 공연예술에 접목시키고 미디어퍼포먼스의 영상제작과 퍼포머의 역할을 함께함으로서 융복합예술에 대한 도전을 하고 있다.
이번 CICA 2021 NMAC 에서 소개하는 작품 < Tuner> 는 몸-소리의 상호작용을 하는 인터랙티브 퍼포먼스로 신체 움직임을 피아노 소리로 표현하며 / ‘나의 몸은 피아노가 되며 나의 움직임이 조율사의 역할을 하게 된다.’라는 의미를 가지고 있는 작품이다. 센서가 부착된 옷을 입고 움직일때마다 소리가 나게 되며 이를 바탕으로 조율사의 퍼포먼스가 진행된다.
움직임을 소리로 변환하는 작업과 작품은 오래전부터 행해왔지만 ‘Tuner’ 작품은 기획, 퍼포먼스, 프로그래밍까지 노석웅이 작업했다는 점에서 이번 전시를 통해 새로운 도전의 첫발을 내딛게 된다.
< Tuner >는 단순히 퍼포먼스를 관람객들이 관람하는 것을 넘어 직접 옷을 입어보며 체험할 수 있는 전시형태를 띄고 있어 많은 관람객들이 신체의 움직임과 소리를 즐기는 시간이 되었으면 한다.
