    Scattered Abstraction

For me, emotion is a major method of delivering my thoughts of mind through the artwork. The process and results of my work can be interpreted as windows to see the phenomena I have experienced. They are clear and transparent because the process of figuring out the cause of anxiety and inner agitation is revealed in the work as it is. I mainly explore a wide range of emotions in my mind and try to deliver what I feel under pressure in the environment and society. Therefore, my work contains personal stories but also deals with emotions that people may have felt at least once. The embodiment of my artworks shows how I treat abstract notions and feelings. Specifically, I create narratives through the collection of noise outside and the combination with soundscapes and draw out the sentiment of emptiness from them. In the installation work, Nylon stockings are used to create abstract forms to express the inner mass, most of which seem to be biomorphic shapes. It is also reminiscent of cells and reminds the viewer of organs. I usually try to find the movement of the molds in the rotten food or substance. Not only that, I use organic forms and non-organic materials like a rope, rubber tubing, and aluminum steel tripod stand at the same time to contrast objects with different properties. In this way, the external forms of each work may vary, such as sculpture, painting, video art, installation art, and performance in my work of arts, but I have been expanding my work forms by moving back and forth regardless of the categories of traditional and digital art. The ultimate goal of my work is to communicate with the audience by revealing emotional states and movements that cannot be expressed in words through the work.

Kylie Rah is a multimedia artist who explores the boundaries between traditional art and digital art based on the approach of fine art. She was born and educated in Seoul, South Korea and started attending BFA Fine Arts at School of Visual Arts in 2021. She treats various forms of each work such as sculpture, digital printing, mixed-media painting, video art, installation art, and performance in her works of art. Emotion is a very influential element in every piece of her works and she uses sound as a communication method to be fully absorbed into the narrative in the work of art. The realm of emotion contains the process of figuring out the cause of anxiety and inner agitation. She immerses herself in the art-making process by collecting raw sounds based on soundscape including noises and melting them into the installation environment as one major part.
