Machine Curated: Art Recommenda 추천하는 전시회
In the digital age, recommendation algorithms are deeply embedded in our daily lives. From YouTube videos and Instagram ads to personalized shopping suggestions, AI-driven recommendations continuously shape our choices, sometimes subtly, sometimes overtly. These algorithms act as invisible curators, influencing what we see, consume, and even how we think. While recommendation algorithms can be useful, they also raise questions about agency, autonomy, and the boundaries between human decision-making and machine influence. <Machine Curated: Art Recommendations> explores this dynamic by showcasing artworks created through a collaboration between AI algorithms and human artists. The exhibition reflects on the absurdity, fascination, and occasional unease of algorithmic recommendations, highlighting how they can both enhance and disrupt our daily experiences. Through a fusion of digital and traditional media, the exhibition presents AI-generated visual outputs that are further manipulated by the artist, creating a dialogue between structured technology and human intuition. The result is a collection of works that question the role of AI in creativity and provoke discussion about the extent to which we are controlled by—or can take control of—machine-driven suggestions in contemporary society. The exhibition will feature a series of AI-inspired artworks, primarily digital prints on canvas, enhanced with acrylic painting to introduce an analog, human touch. These works are generated using real recommendation algorithms developed by the artist herself, modifying and interpreting the AI outputs, thereby creating an engaging interplay between machine logic and human emotion.
디지털 시대에 우리는 추천 알고리즘과 함께 살아가고 있다. 유튜브 영상, 인스타그램 광고, 맞춤형 쇼핑 제안까지, 인공지능이 만들어내는 추천은 우리의 선택을 끊임없이 형성하며 때로는 은밀하게, 때로는 노골적으로 영향을 미친다. 이러한 알고리즘은 보이지 않는 큐레이터처럼 작용하여 우리가 무엇을 보고, 소비하며, 생각하는지까지 조정한다. 추천 알고리즘은 유용할 수도 있지만, 동시에 인간의 주체성과 자율성, 그리고 기계가 우리의 의사결정에 어디까지 개입할 수 있는지에 대한 의문을 제기한다. <추천하는 전시회>는 인공지능 알고리즘과 인간 예술가의 협업을 통해 탄생한 작품들을 선보이며, 이러한 역동적인 관계를 탐구한다. 알고리즘의 추천이 때로는 황당하고, 때로는 매력적이며, 때로는 불편할 수도 있음을 조명하며, 그것이 우리의 일상에 미치는 영향에 대해 다시금 생각해보게 한다. 이 전시는 디지털 기술과 전통적인 회화 기법을 융합하여 구성된다. 인공지능이 생성한 이미지를 바탕으로 작가가 직접 변형하고 해석을 가미하여, 기계적 논리와 인간적 직관 사이의 대화를 만들어낸다. 이를 통해 우리는 AI가 창의성에 미치는 역할을 고민하고, 우리가 기계의 추천에 의해 조종당하고 있는지, 혹은 그 속에서 주체적인 선택이 가능한지를 되짚어볼 수 있을 것이다. 전시에서는 AI 기반의 작품들이 선보이며, 주로 캔버스에 디지털 프린트를 한 후 아크릴 페인팅을 더해 아날로그적인 감각을 강화한다. 이 작품들은 실제 추천 알고리즘을 활용하여 제작되었으며, 작가가 이를 변형하고 재해석함으로써 기계적 규칙과 인간의 감성이 조화를 이루는 흥미로운 미학적 경험을 제공한다.
Yoonyoung Kim is an artist who explores the intersection of technology and artificial intelligence through visual expression, transforming algorithmic structures into new artistic experiences. In her works, technology and art are not separate entities but rather interconnected forces that interact and evolve together. She perceives AI and algorithms not merely as tools but as living entities, each with its own characteristics and dynamic interactions. By directly coding and developing AI models, she integrates digital methodologies into her artistic process. Her works often begin as AI-generated images, which are then printed on canvas and enhanced with analog drawing and painting techniques—creating a true collaboration between human creativity and machine logic. Through this process, her work critiques contemporary technological society while simultaneously reflecting humanity’s instinct to control and surpass technology. Drawing inspiration from geometric forms, cosmic imagery, and philosophical concepts, her art provokes fresh perspectives and sensory experiences. Her goal is to offer viewers a sense of wonder and immersion, using art as a means to reinterpret the reality shaped by science and technology. Through her work, she invites audiences to engage with a world where the boundaries between human expression and artificial intelligence continuously blur and evolve.
김윤영 작가는 기술과 인공지능을 예술의 언어로 풀어내며, 알고리즘이 만들어내는 점, 선, 면의 조합을 통해 새로운 시각적 경험을 탐구하는 예술가이다. 그의 작업에서는 기술과 예술이 별개의 개념이 아닌, 상호작용하며 유기적으로 연결된 세계로서 표현된다. 그는 인공지능과 알고리즘을 단순한 도구가 아니라 하나의 생명체처럼 바라보며, 이를 직접 코딩하고 프로그래밍하여 예술적 재료로 활용한다. 특히 디지털 이미지를 생성한 후, 이를 캔버스에 프린트하고 아날로그 드로잉과 회화적 요소를 더하는 방식으로 인간과 기계의 협업을 실현한다. 이러한 작업을 통해 현대 기술 사회를 비판하는 동시에, 인간이 기술을 지배하고자 하는 본능과 기술에 대한 새로운 시각을 동시에 담아낸다. 그의 작품은 기하학적 형태, 우주적 상상력, 철학적 사고를 시각적으로 표현하며, 관객들에게 신선한 자극과 환상을 제공하는 것을 목표로 한다. 예술을 통해 과학과 기술이 펼쳐놓은 현실을 재해석하고, 그 속에서 새로운 경험과 몰입의 순간을 공유하고자 한다.
