Real Feel
The relationship humans have with technology is very complex. Development of technology all started with a positive intention to enhance human lives for the better, but as technology starts to immensely impact our daily lives, we often start losing touch with what is “real”, followed by emptiness that cannot be fulfilled with what is not real. Therefore, for us humans, it is crucial to be reminded of the essence of life that makes us “humans”. The exhibition, “Real Feel”, intends to highlight the power of human emotions and nature that cannot be mimicked or replaced by technology.
Korea based artist, Jeesoo Im, graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with Textiles BFA. With a great interest in human psychology and how the fast-forward technology affects human emotions, Jeesoo continued to explore the interaction between one of the greatest advancements of modern day society with humanity through textiles. Using soft materials, she intends to deliver warmth and color to the modern-day people, whose lives have been disconnected from natural elements of life due to the rising involvement and inevitability of the virtual world.
