In Flux
A solo exhibition by artist Amy Moon, In Flux, captures the subtle movements of a world in constant transformation through a material exploration of water and dust. Water shifts between states — mist, droplet, snow, vapor — moving through space without a fixed form. Dust settles and seeps into surfaces, accumulating as a trace of time. Though elusive, both elements possess a silent force that continuously alters their surroundings. The works explore the materiality of painting to reflect this fluidity and erosion. Paint is layered, dragged, blurred, and washed away. Surfaces fracture and waver, at times hazy, at times sharp. Rather than presenting fixed images, the works illuminate the threshold where forms emerge and dissolve. This process mirrors the dual nature of water and dust: soft and imperceptible, yet capable of transformation through slow accumulation. This exhibition visualizes the tension between exposure and concealment, erosion and formation, visibility and disappearance prompting reflection on the fragile boundary between presence and absence.
이번 전시는 물과 먼지를 중심으로 한 감각적이고 물질적인 탐구를 통해, 끊임없이 변화하는 세계의 미세한 움직임을 포착한다. 물은 안개, 물방울, 눈, 김 등 다양한 상태로 전환하며 공간을 흐르고, 먼지는 시간의 흔적으로서 표면에 내려앉고 스며든다. 두 물질 모두 일정한 형체 없이 존재하지만, 주변을 끊임없이 변화시키는 힘을 가진다. 작가는 회화의 물질성을 적극적으로 활용하여, 이 유동성과 침식의 과정을 화면 위에 구현한다. 물감은 겹겹이 쌓이고 흐르며, 번지고 지워지기를 반복한다. 표면은 때로는 흐릿하게, 때로는 날카롭게 균열되고 흔들린다. 특정한 이미지를 고정적으로 제시하기보다는, 형태가 생성되고 소멸하는 경계에 있는 상태 자체를 드러낸다. 이러한 작업 과정은 물과 먼지가 지닌 이중성을 반영한다. 그것들은 부드럽고 미세하지만, 반복적인 축적을 통해 환경을 변화시키고, 시간의 흔적으로서 자리를 남긴다. 이 전시는 이러한 흐름 속에서 드러남과 감춰짐, 침식과 형성, 가시성과 소멸 사이에 놓인 긴장을 시각화하며, 존재와 부재 사이의 경계에 대한 사유를 유도한다.
Amy Moon (b.1999, Seoul, South Korea)is a visual artist working across painting, drawing,and collage. Through a layered, mixed-media process, her work explores fractured perception,place-lessness, and transformation. Growing up between Seoul, Los Angeles, and New York, shedraws on the disorientation and texture of in-between spaces — construction zones, torn signal,and urban surfaces in flux. Her work has been exhibited at IRL Gallery, Hox Gallery, SVA, U.SDepartment of Education Headquarters, and various artist-run spaces in New York and LosAngeles. She received her BA from Columbia University and currently lives and works in NewYork, NY.
Amy Moon (b.1999, Seoul, South Korea)은회화, 드로잉, 콜라주를 중심으로 작업한다. 작가는 레이어링과 혼합매체를 활용한 과정을 통해 단절된 인식, 장소의 부재, 변형의 개념을 탐구한다. 서울, 로스앤젤레스, 뉴욕을 오가며 성장한 작가는 공사현장, 변화하는 도시 표면등 경계의 공간에서 느끼는 혼란과 질감을 작업의 기반으로 삼고 있다. 작가의 작업은 IRL Gallery, Hox Gallery, SVA, U.S Department of Education Headquarter, 그리고 뉴욕과 로스앤젤레스의 다양한 아티스트런 스페이스에서 전시되었다. 현재 뉴욕에서 거주하며 작업하고 있다.
