Sacrifice
“Today, half the charcoal consumed in Brazil comes from eucalyptus plantations. The other half is produced by workers who spend their lives moving from forest.These migrant workers are known as The Charcoal People.
Charcoal is essencial burned wood i order to obtain charcoal, the Brazilian pig iron industries have already deforested the Atlantic Forest and much of the Scrub Savanas in Central Brazil, totaling an area the size of France, or bigger nowadays ”
Sacrifice video art shows an image(photo), the woman was lie down on the charcoal’s bags, on a dark scene in a charcoal’s deposit, where a name of which victim was written on which bag, “the slaves” of the charcoal’s industry.
A journey beyond the fragility in the nature, just to “reminds us that water is precious and that we need a new approach to protect the planet’s vital elements.”

Alessandra Vaghi is a Brazilian-Italian visual artist, resident in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The most recent project involves a ceramic’s sculptures with feathers. As a brasilian artist, her trip to Amazon, passionate about nature and a social’s matters, brought to her artwork many different materials, to explore the forest as a subject.
An artwork where I proposed an investigative practice involving the printed image and various means of reproduction of images, including languages such as videos, documentaries, photos, drawings, paintings, and sculptures, considering its uniqueness and approximations. The images poetically deal with issues of nature, landscape, and a social relation to the space it inhabits.
The main concepts that permeate and constitute the axis of this group of works are the nature’s material and the feeling to transformed the concepts already existed.
Alessandra Vaghi comes up with the right concept for your artwork because she invests the time necessary to build an intuition about your work. She started a project Adrift at the residence, Experimental Artwork, filming an art project; sculptures, drawings, and paintings. This project was conceived during her trip to Haarlem, Nederland. Where she took an artist residence, October 2014.
She graduated as a graphic designer in USA, at Platt College, in 1993 and University. She studied art at Parque Lage School of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro., Brazil.
A solo exhibition, in many Brazilian Museum, at the Museum da República, MAM- BAHIA, MAM- RIO,
and also in many galleries in Brazil, as Lurixs, Artur Fidalgo and Duch gallery

In 2005 Alessandra takes part of Biennial do Mercosul at MAC Museum, RJ,
MAM Bahia, during the Bahia Biennial, installed the Oasis Installation on the Ocean, two big boats with fruit trees (a survive Continent)
In October her artwork Project Adrift, that started in 2013 at the Búzios Biennial, and the next year during the Bahia Biennial.
She was one of the finalist artist, on Art Revolution Taipei, Taiwan, Sacrifice photography
Following solos took places in several galleries in Brazil: Lurixs, Artur Fidalgo’s, RJ and Landeiro Gallery in Bahia. Some of her works are also in Collections:
