illuminating existence 조명하는 존재- anomaly layer 변칙적 층위

Illuminating existence has dictionary meanings of ‘a being that illuminates’, ‘a being that helps understanding’, and ‘a being that makes things clear.’ Light is visible to the eye, but it acts as a medium to recognize existence, increasing the sense of mystery about itself. By imaging this shape of light as geometric abstract ‘light’ and as a being visible within the work, the dynamic energy of life is expressed.
As for the cognitive effects of motifs, attention is paid to ‘dynamism’ such as diagonal dynamism and vertical dynamism. This formative principle can be said to have the meaning of dimension intersection. It is a combination of an object with special characteristics that mainly symbolizes light (an object that is difficult to reproduce through painting) and painting, which embodies the light generated from the motif itself and the light generated from its interface. The geometric elements shown in the work sometimes show regularity, but also show irregularity, that is, deviation from the rules. Irregularity comes from what is said to be a coincidence in human life, or from unexpected and uncertain thoughts about human life, and this is revealed in the form of an irregular arrangement of formative elements on the screen.
Meanwhile, in his book Chaosmose, French thinker Félix Guattari combined his schizophrenia and ecological philosophy to derive a new concept called ‘chaosmose.’ This is a compound word of chaos (chaos), cosmos (order), and omose (interpenetration), and refers to the process of creation where chaos and order interpenetrate. Guattari presented a new ecological concept, which states that ecological diversity can only increase when various heterogeneous and unique
entities come together, and that a new order can only emerge when unique things appear and reestablish the existing order. In other words, we urge you to create a new self-reference through artistic creation in chaos.
My work has the meaning of light as chaos, just as chaos and cosmos interact. For example, the combination of irregular and anomalous pieces reveals incongruous media and motifs as a kind of accumulation. Anomalous pieces referred to here include deformed canvases, panels, other objects, and drawn motifs. In other words, these anomalous pieces are implemented as layers in a series of flows, which I would like to name as anomalous layers. This is the result of establishing a formative balance that occurs when an irregularity is encountered, as if the shape is regularly revealed towards a fixed point and then escapes. It responds to ‘anomalies’ thrown in as if by chance and maintains balance in that diversity. It forms a kind of harmony within irregularity and disharmony, and the process itself has meaning. This can also be said to be a reductive expression of a creative response to random events that occur in life, which are like chaos.
The object of the metaphor, revealed as a geometric shape, swims between light and darkness, sometimes seeking direction and giving a feeling of a brightly shining state, or a state of chaos, separation, or instability. Ultimately, this is intended to be an expression of beauty and contains the light of human existence.
