Fo(u)r Hours
Fo(u)r Hours looks at the readily available documentation of the storming of the US Capitol. During the events of Jan. 6th our full demonstration of American exceptionalism was on display for the world to witness. During that event, never have we seen such a level of documentation of a shared experience where the implicated parties on both sides were on display for the world to see under so many watchful(documenting) eyes. Using the videos uploaded by the insurrectionists, long exposure still images were created from the chaotic narcissism of posting illegal behavior online.

This body of work attempts to look back on the events of Jan. 6th as a sort of revisionist history. Drawing the viewer in with aesthetic devices borrowed from Impressionism that subverts itself as soon as the subject matter is revealed. This horrifying beauty aims to make the viewer come back to the work conceptually by treating them with pleasant aesthetics.
