Space – 경계/ Space – Liminality
Space는 비어 있는, 이용할 수 있는 자리를 말합니다.
Liminality는 한 영역에서 다른 영역으로 넘어가는 상태를 말한다
우리는 시간속의 존재이면서 동시에 물리적 공간을 점유하며 살아갑니다.
나는 우리를 에워싼 시간과 물리적 공간이 우리의 상상력으로부터 시작된다고 관찰하였습니다.
이 상상력에 대한 탐구가 내 작업의 근간 입니다.
나의 작품은 공간의 이쪽과 저쪽, 안과 밖을 나누는 경계와 시간에 관한 이야기입니다.
이 경계는 물리적인 선이나 구획이 갖는 의미를 넘어서 우리의 상상을 가능하게 하는 원리를 의미합니다.
“Space_liminality”는 2014년에 평면회화로 부터 시작했지만, 지금은 입체로 변화되었습니다.
이를 가능케 한 재료는 한지와 콩즙입니다. 한지는 색을 칠하면 기존의 색을 완전히 덮지 않고 스며드는 특성이 있는데 이러한 특성은 여러 층을 통과하는 시간과 공간의 특성과 닮았습니다.
Space refers to an empty, available realm.
Liminality is a state of transition between one realm to the next.
We belong in time while our living bodies occupy physical space.
I realized that time and physical space that surrounds us originate from our imagination.
Exploring this imagination is what formed the basis of my artwork.
My artwork is a story about time and the boundary that separates sides, the inside, and the outside.
This boundary means something beyond a physical line or compartment – it means liminality, the principle that allows our imagination.
“Space_liminality” started in 2014 as a flat painting, but now it has changed into three dimensions. The ingredients that made this possible are Hanji and soybean juice.
When coloring Hanji, it does not completely overpaint the existing color; The new color permeates the existing color. It resembles the characteristics of time and space passing through multiple layers of our dimensions.
J 선희는 이화여대 동양화과를 졸업하였고, 시간과 공간을 주제로 작업하고 있습니다.
