From my viewpoint, The rectangle of canvas frames—their verticality and inflexibility—symbolize masculinity in art history.
I examine political and cultural implication of canvas frames and I try to assemble overlapped frames on the stretcher bars, which I manipulate outside of the rectangular shape, in order to visually emphasize deviation from tradition.
In addition, I reassemble new forms whose outlines from the female genitals and backside of the bodies which are regarded as private and vulgar organs, and then I represent it over top of the masculine symbolism and characteristic to subvert conventional structures.
My works is like a manifesto, offering me opportunities to examine the way I would like reimagine unconventional aspects which challenges traditional cultural contexts.
